I've seen them do that, but not to that extent.
Suggestions above are good preventative measures. Or just do a disc conversion.

About a week ago I had my passenger side front driveshaft and wheel bearing replaced at a workshop. About a day or so later I started to hear a clunking noise again. After just forking out to have the Vitara worked on I was pretty peeved thinking it hadn't been done properly. Then realised the noise might have been coming from the rear and noticed metal dust(?) in my rear drivers side rim. thinking it may have had something to do with my brakes I jacked it up because I hadn't checked them in a while and found this! Attachment: drum.jpg I've replaced the drum but I'm not really sure what may have caused it, any ideas? When I've talked to people about it and shown them the picture all get is 'how the f*ck did that happen!' Not sure if I should be checking anything else to make sure it doesn't happen again. |

I seen plenty of road wheels that have done that, due to fitters not tightening them up. (on mine sites) Have seen the holes slotted almost completely through to the next hole.. Replacing the studs would be wise, but regardless, you should refer the problem back to the repairer. |

Those nuts must've come loose at some stage. I'd be replacing all the nuts, studs and spring washers and find the correct torque to do them up to |

That damage is on the rear and has been going on for more than a day. |

I only read every 4th word... I was working in a mechanical workshop years ago, and a lady came in, and had a go at the owner, because she had brought her car in the week before, for us to replace a broken tail light, and now her bonnet wouldn't open, so we must have broken it... . |

Sorry this is late, wasn't getting notifications. I'm definitely not saying it's the workshops fault, that was just the first thought that went through my head until I realised what was actually making noise! Thanks for reassuring me it's not out of the ordinary. One of the nuts was loose when I first looked at it Scrawn. Anyone know where I can get new studs? I've never had to get them before so not really sure where to go |

Any bolt shop should be able to get them for you |
