Really happy with the car but my brake lights don't work.

I've checked every fuse and the bulbs and all fine. Apart from the switch on the brake pedal, where else should I be looking? I've unclipped and recoupled the brake light switch, will test it for power tomorrow after work.

It looks to have a tow bar? Maybe see if the plug wiring is any good or if they've scotched locked it and botched it?

+1 to towbar. scotch locks cut shit up.
cables go through passengers side to take a look.

thanks guys, will be fiddling with those connections tonight, might even back it up to a trailer & see if there's any lights to that as that'd rule the pedal switch out completely.

pantera has a gadget he's going to lend me that tells you if a wire is live etc so will borrow that & try.

just lick the wires, it's just like a 9v battery but only better.

my guess is dodgy botchlocks that have sliced the original wires or corroded trailer plug, have you checked the fuse?

yeah checked all the fuses, the wires near the plug i'm guessing (& hoping) are a good chance as the car was being used to beach launch a dinghy & there's rusty bits everywhere (i'd say they either didn't rinse it thoroughly or even didn't bother every now & then).

sucks that it's winter time to fiddle with the car as it's pretty much dark when heading home from work, literally have under an hour of light left to tackle this kinda thing.

managed to fix the brake lights yesterday. checked out the trailer plug & that wasn't getting power either. in the end it was the actual switch on the pedal. called the local auto pro to see if they had any in stock but luckily they were closed so i pulled the switch apart & the mechanism was really simple & just needed a quick clean.
