Hey guys,
I read in one of the threads here that there's a detroit locker for a sierra rear diff and I wanna stick one in my coily. I can't find anything on the net to buy one, anyone know where to look?

Did you try google? I typed "Detroit locker suzuki" into google and the first hit was rocky road outfitters, followed by Snake Racing a couple of entries down. I wouldn't buy from either of those, but nonetheless, they're not hard to find. I would purchase from lowrangeoffroad.

Having said that, were you looking for the so-called "full case" Detroit? I'm not sure these are available for the sierra any more - and when they were, they were very close to Airlocker money. The "drop in" style of lock right (with or without couplers) or Spartan both work effectively and are cheap.

That being the case it's all lockright/spartan then. No matter, they're all the same thing. I was suspicious the OP was asking about the old full-case detroit.

Ok cheers guys, I only could find spartan or lockrite except for snake racing but like you said I don't want to buy from them. Is the spartan a good idea if it's my daily? The sierra is already dodgy in the wet haha. If anyone has expirience with the Spartans I'd love to hear about it. Basically I want the best locker for a sierra rear without using air (just a personal preference).

For road driven, air is the best and legal option

spartan and lockrights work just fine, but arnt the best for road use..
in saying that, I have a spartan in the back of mine, it gets the job done in a agricultural way

My lockrite is a hell of a lot quieter than my friends spartan and I've spoken to half a dozen people who have had similar experiences.

Aside from the extra play I can't tell it's there above car park speeds. A lot of people say autolockers are "unpredictable" but I'd say they just have experience with poorly setup ones. Mine's 100% predicable, there's really nothing to predict.

I'd still go an air locker if I could, I hate the extra play and it clonks around in car parks.

Another option is mini spools, go the Trail Tough one not Trail Gear because it's not made out of cheese impregnated glass. Personally I'd have an autolocker over a spool but that's just me. And before the peanut gallery jumps down my throat, yes, I have driven quite a few spooled vehicles.

Ok cool, thanks for your help, I wanted to steer clear of air lockers cause I don't have the experience to deal with broken valves etc.. But maybe it sounds like the way to go.
