Hi
still unsure, ive asked before and always got the same response Re rear brakelines for the Jimny FullFloat JML kit.
that is to say everyone say PATROL brake lines
so today i went to the wreckers and they took me to a patrol and i took photos.

so. i want to take the whole hard-line off the patrol, the soft line and the fittings. is this the right patrol, or all of a sudden is there going to be a specific model requirement?

That's an understatement. I haven't so much as touched my kit as a result and won't until the dust settles and there is more clarity around the required instructions. (i.e. I notice on Gideon's posts on Joe's fb page that the random little tubes need to be trial fitted, measured, removed, cut to length, refitted and welded to the calliper mount. No way I - or anyone - would have easily have guessed that from staring at two loose bits of tube. And there's been no mention of it anywhere in any communication about the kit.)

I dont think the tubes required for the jimny.
Theres no mention of it from what ive seen. Im confident it will go together and even more confident ill be stoked with the results.
Im also confident I dont want to pay for the privlage of laying in long grass diconecting old pipes and brackes from the muddy undercarage of a patrol to find its not what I need.
But unless somone tells me otherwise thats exactly what ill be doing tomorrow

I don't exactly understand what you are trying to achieve, or what this kit is for, but i wouldn't be touching any soft brake lines from that car in the photo...or any second hand car for that matter. (hard lines are a bit touch and go, the nuts get damaged easily if they have been taken off a few times)

I would figure out what you need to join to what, and get custom brake lines made, very reasonably priced at your local hydrualics mob. On muliple occasions i have walked into my local hydraulics shop with two brake components and said "make me a pipe that joins these together that is Xmm long".

we just bought 26 Mw of generators for CAT so might see what they have in stock now as they have service people galore here now. if not ill have to risk my job and do it on nightshirt at the powerstation.
what do you do but? at least ive made a detailed list of everything ive needed/ used/ am going to use.

I've not looked at anything to do with the kit but if you need 'Patrol' stuff then thats the sort of setup to replicate.

Except, thats all old busted shit that will give you grief, you need to get somebody with a flarer and bundy tube and nuts to make up some hard lines, there will be a little one that goes from the stock flex hose to the diff (is there only one?)or an adapter if they are available into a T piece, then more from the tee piece to the flex hoses, then flex hoses to calipers.

the metal parts would be worth bugger all and if the hoses arent available new they can be made.

if you get pics of where the flex hose to teh diff attaches to the line on the chassis and where they go on the calipers, work out how long you need the flex hose from chassis to diff, each caliper and how long for each hard line from the new tee piece to caliper flex hoses, I am sure I can find a shop around here to make it all up and I can post it up attached to a bit of wood so it doesnt get bent

Why not just shorten the existing hard line and just make up hoses to suit the calipers?

jimny brakelnes flow from the Proprting valve to the right drum, then from the right drum to the left drum.

you could do it, but the left drum flair nut is 8mm and the rights are 10mm. it would place the T peice pretty far outboard on the RHS wheel.

i figured the more patrol bits i used, the more correctly sized fittings id have for the soft lines, the hard lines, and then id just need to get a tpeice to go from the prop valve soft line to the rear.
a patrol diff being larger and longer axles i know ill still have to trim and re flair the ends to suit but it would be a pretty good start if cat cant help.

thanks anyway guys.

taking the FF kit home at Christmas and will fit out the new axle and diff centre there, box it into a crate and courier it to myself.
noone in town stocks flarenuts...
