Evening fellow enthusiasts, Quick question, do transfer cases have a synchro gear? Mine used to be able to shift on the fly. Now I must stop to get it in, coming out whilst moving is easy and smooth. Not sure if this would be worth fixing? |

You should be able to shift from 2hi to 4hi without stopping so long as the freewheel hubs are locked. If your tyres are different sizes, your hubs are seized, or some part of the drivetrain is broken such that the front shaft and rear shaft aren't rotating at the same speed then you won't be able to shift. You shouldn't change 4hi to 4lo on the fly, there is no synchromesh. Are both hubs engaging? That would be the first thing I'd check. |

Just rebuilt the hubs. Ill jack it up and have a look. Thanks for the advice! |
