hey guys just looking for some advice on an engine rebuild for my coily as its done a headgasket and im thinking a fresh rebuild is due anyway.
1st question, Lowrangeoffroad has a full rebuild kit for samurais for $370 will this suit my SJ80 coily engine?
2nd question, what is main bearing size, piston and ring size and rod bearing size? ive never rebuilt an engine and i will be paying to get it done by a mechanic just trying to get parts as cheep as i can as i will be ordering other parts from lowrange for my build anyway.
3rd question is it worth getting high comp pistons?
4th question unrelated just needing some info on if a NT rear lockrite will fit in my coily rear diff?

Rebuild kits can be good value but you need to disassemble and inspect the engine block and crankshaft BEFORE you buy parts.
Inspection will reveal how much the block needs boring (if at all) and how much the crank needs grinding.
You don't want to waste money on standard size parts if you need oversize pistons &/or rings and undersize main and rod bearings.

You can get a full gasket set though your mechanic may get it cheaper.

You'll have to decide if the HC pistons are worth the while - if you fit them you will get more power, but you will also need to run higher octane fuel - for me it was a "no-brainer" because the only fuel available here is premium, I have to pay for it, so I might as well make the most of it.
