What to look for in a vitara with 300k km+

I want to go sus out a vitara jlx 1.6 with the g16b engine and it has high kilometers
what should i look for other than

- doing a car facts check/rev check/ppsr
- compression test
- make sure it idles for a while with the bonnet closed to see if it has a blown head gasket or warped head

Any other things to look at when looking at a 22 year old suzuki?
Where should i check for rust on the chassis or on the body?

Smoke on cold start up - the valve stem seals won't last 300K - they might have been done, but who knows.
Make sure the car is cold when you see it so you can listen for knocks on startup.
I'd agree check for evidence of head problems. Fluctuating temperature, water in exhaust, pressure in cooling system etc. The head is the Achilles heel of these motors.
I've seen rust under the windscreen rubber on Vitaras, and on the roof.
Obviously, floorpans are prone to rust if the car is a soft top, but generally, they aren't too bad for rust.
Check that everything works (power locks and windows)

Most parts are readily available (there's lots of vitaras in wreckers) and not very expensive.

You will probably find it has had a engine swap or rebuild check the engine number to the manufacture placard some people keep receipts for engine fixes

My last one had 350k and had both replacement motor and receipts for work done on it.
