Mine gave up suddenly on a highway at 205,000k it was more the Viscous hub excessivly vibrating killing the bearings in the pump.
Just check if the fan, hub and pump has any play in it eg try and tilt the fan forward, backward and left and right and see if there is any movement in the hub and pump shaft that connects to the hub, and while the motor is running look at fan and see if its shaking.
If replacing the pump sometimes its worth it to replace chains etc, but all mine where perfectly fine, they are ment to last the life of the motor, some replace them around 300,000k's some still going at 500,000ks. Being a 2001 when doing pump i would at least check the pretensioners and have them replaced as that was the time they had the timing tick problem, but that may of allready been fixed.
Oh ok cool. I was abit alarmed when the owner said he hasnt changed the water pump or timing chain on the motor and its done 215000kms. Thanks for that.
