| Post subject: | 1L mud slut Alternator options? |
Hi all! i keep destroying alternators on my little 1L Sierra and im finding it hard to find replacement alternators locally. is there a way to convert the external regulator to accept a more modern internally regulated alternator? has anyone had a go at this ? little video of the beast, dont mind the music i didnt make the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjmPRO3pyOw ![]() ![]()

You could try sealing the alt except for a hole in each side and then fit a couple of hoses and run a fan to cool it. Seen it done on earthmoving equipment in extremely dusty conditions where very expensive alts were destroyed in a few days. |

i have plenty of 1.3l alternators lying around that i dont mind destroying but i just need to know if i can bypass the external voltage regulator :s |
