Hi guys
what would you guys think. my jimny has 34000k on it, and its 5 years old.
would you recommend leaving it in the NT and buying another jimny when i move to Vic, or, do i keep my jimny, and put a auto in instead of the manual so my girlfriend can drive it.

then comes the hard question, which auto and why. if i take my current jimny 30's will fit with no lift, bumpstoped, fullfloat rear, caplock rear.

cheers

Teach your gf to drive a manual.

sounds like it might be easier to sell and buy another, depending on what you would get for ur jimny as it is now?

Hi mate,

I think it's worth trying to bring your Jimny down here. In Victoria they are definitely on the ball but if the car isn't "look at me look at me" you can get by with quite a few mods. Just stay away from the Mansfield cops

I think getting everything engineered is a good idea and then you can legally keep your Jimny as it is and keep all your mods. One of my mates has a Toyota Bundera with a 7mgte, big lift, huge tyres and upgraded brakes and is engineered and fully legal. Cost him either $600 or $900 to engineer.

Have a read through this if you want and see what you think, there should be everything you need to know on this link.

great thank you
as, down there, i donot have to rily on my jimnys ability to ffloat across creeks ill be lowering it. to stock, on stock springs (for now) with spring spacers and AVO shocks.
more then anything i want engineering for wheels and width, and chop off anything in the way of that.

No worries! You shouldn't have many problems then. Most lifted Jimnys look stock anyway, especially next to a Patrol or the like. People ask me when am I going to lift my Jimny and when I tell them it already is their jaw drops haha. I have a Tough Dog lift, and from what I've seen your car has a big lift. What do you do to combat body roll? Roundabouts and chicanes can be interesting for my Jimny

Nothing. The rear roll stiffness with jb 75
mm springs and procomp es5000 shocks is better then a sway bar on the front with a ome 40mm lift.

Bring it down, where in VIC are you going? Just leave it registered in NT until you sort it with engineering and RWC.

If you have the stock springs still, I would put them back in without the spacers, and borrow a set of tires from a club member, your problem will be your rear disc conversion will need to be removed or engineered.

I am running 30s without any lift and it works very well.

looking at buying in/ around footscray, cos its close to the city but has a stigma that is keeping prices low.
short term issue is keeping it roadworthy in the NT. it has a check later this year and i dont want troubble.
ill have 6 months rejo by the time i reach VIC so hopefully ill have a engineer lined up. pretty simple mod list.

Maximum tyre size you will get engineered is 28". Rear discs will be tricky and might require some engineer shopping.
