Hi All,
I have a 88 1.3L sierra with a 2inch OME lift and 31s
I want to put 4.9 gears in and am wondering if anyone can give me a heads up on the difficulty level of installing transfer gears, looks like one needs a hydraulic press and some specialty tools.
I am a relatively capable DIY mechanic but generally avoid things with fine tolerances and big opportunities for screwing it up.
I am interested in perhaps farming out some or all of the work if that is going to be the best / most reliable option - I am based in Melbourne. Don't have lots of time to phaff around with things even if i could learn as i go.
Would also consider a change over transfer case if that is a good way to go
Keen to hear your thoughts.
Chris

Yeah thanks I have seen that, it does not help me to know if it is easy to do etc.
Can I simplify and ask, are all the diy crowd doing this job themselves?
Thanks, Chris
