1.0 Maruti blows heaps of smoke from cold start but is good off idle and under load. Is this a common problem with an easy fix? It seems like oil from the crankcase vent might be pooling in the horizontal carby throat when the motor is off, then it gets burned during startup. |

as alien said, valve stem seals. when your car is left overnight etc oil from the rocker is weeping into the bores, so when you start the engine for the first time it smokes. |

It seems the 75 km drive home at top speed has done it some good, it starts very easily now, idles cold and without smoke. in its previous life it was used as a weed spraying vehicle so lots of time near idle.... |

Give it 12-24hrs and it'll go again if it's the stem seals. Check your oil too - if it's stopped you might be running low =) |
