Hi got a 92 lwb vit. Keep hearing stories on here that the ally cased ones are no good and will let you down. Is it just the ally case you change to steel or the whole diff? Im pretty useless with cars. I want to make mine bulletproof for some big touring.

Is it a case of the ally ones are no good because they are weak?

Can a bash plate fix this?

Or does it break just because of the internal stress?

Is it just a case of getting a gv steel outer and swapping the insides over? Are there any threads on this? Tried typing it in but i just get confused haha.

Please keep responses in lamens terms thanks :)

Any info on what i will need to make this swap happen will be much appreciated. Cheers

Internal stress kills alloy casing.
All internal bits are steel.
Yes put your internals into GV steel front diff casing (which includes axle housing).

Bash plate is wise anyway, to protect cross member from damage.

must include matching mount as later ones were different, not sure on year range.

If you don't I have an airlocked, bushed, 5.12 that I'm pulling out of my car. Buzz me if the above falls through.
