It's a 10mm square recess, looks a lot like a 3/8" square drive socket, but it is slightly larger, and if you use the 3/8 it can slip and destroy the plug. Make sure you remove the fill plug first. |

Hi guys. Is the transfer case and gearbox oil seperrated? Can I change all the oil from the transfer case plugs? On my car the there is a fill plug on the gearbox that has a large torx drive head. Not a square drive. The transfer case has the 10mm square drives. |

The transfer contains its own oil and is entirely separate from the gearbox although they look joined. The section directly under the main gear lever is dry. (assuming manual?) If the main box has a torx plug you are winning already. |

Yeah but the distance between the gearbox and tunnel is about 35mm and I can't get a torx socket on! |
