Hi,
Ok so still waiting to get a red Jimny from the dealer, looking into the future at tyres, can I get 215's on the stock rims without lift? and if so will it make over all height go up?

I want to do heaps to her but over about a year and can't raise her due to carport being 180cm

will start a slow build log when we pick her up

Hey!

The stock size is 205/70R15 for the Jimny's, so going up to 215/70R15 will only be a .6 of an inch(1.5cm) taller, which means it will give you a lift of 0.75cm. So it won't make much of a difference. Even if you go to 215/75R15, that's a difference of 1.4 inches (3.5cm) so that will give you a lift of 1.75cm.

As for fitting them on the rim, they run a 15x5.5" rim, so either choice will fit without any dramas.

BFG All Terrain 215x75x15 go on without issue cause I put them on mine. Maybe you could haggle the dealer to swap the stock tyres b4 you pick it up? They might have a problem doing that though as I think those tyres are a little bigger than what is strictly legal on the stock jimny. Someone else might be able to confirm this.
Also I think the jimny is 1.705 m high so you could still possibly put a 50mm lift on with the bigger tyres and get it under a 1.8 m carport. You would have to double check that though to make sure.

A mate once told me with 4x4's load em up with extras before adding springs and lift as such because then you can get the right spring rate? true or false?

also is a nudge bar or full roo bar better? will get a winch one day, so custom?

Tyres will serve a better advantage then a lift will with stock HT tyres. So go that route first.

While that may be true for larger 4x4's, I find it not so true with smaller ones (ie;Zook's). But it comes down to how much cargo you are going to carry around constantly. There are Heavy Duty variants of springs however unless your loaded 24/7, it gives you a terrible ride. If your getting a bar, just add coil spacers and that will fix the sag.

Depends on where you live and what terrain you want.
I live in the bush (kind of) and there are a lot of Roo's around, so I went with a full bullbar with a winch platform, adds more weight but I prefer the protection.

If you want purely a winch bar, you can get someone to fabricate one up cheaper then a brand new Xrox or ARB will cost.
Once again, all comes down to personal preference though.

To answer the OPs original question;
You'll be right.
My Jimny with 2 inch lift and 215 75 r15 tyres on standard rims would JUST fit a 1840mm high garage.

Mine had Rola roof racks that sat about 20mm higher then the factory rails and I had about 20mm clear to the lowest point in the garage.

Custom bullbars is a problem with airbags - might be Xrox is the easiest / only option?
