Hey guys I've come back to Zooks after a number of years playing with GQ's, GU's, JK's and WK2's. I've stumbled across a old LJ80 Ute at a price too good to pass up. So I'm cool with body work (there is some rust but it's a 1978 model so there will be rust). I'm cool with mechanical (it's had a 1.3 Corolla Conversion) but I need some help with the suspension and tyres. So my questions are below: 1. it seems that a lifted spring for a NT Spook will provide a 2" lift for a LJ. Is this correct? 2. Tyres- from what I have read a 31/10.5R15 may fit under the guards with maybe a little rubbing on compression or lock. Is this correct or should I stick with the stock tyres size? 3. Wheels. I'd like to get a set of Sunraysia's for it. My memory is foggy but from my old Seirra, 5 stud Cruiser or Hilux rims would fit and provide a little more offset. Will they suit the LJ as well? Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks Steve |

1. I think the springs give a little bit of lift but I don't think its 2 inches 2. 31s will fit but you will get a bit of scrubbing. nothing that's hard to fix with a hammer and grinder the worst thing you will find with 31s is the gearing on lj80s sucks on bigger tyres. you would be better off sourcing lj50 transfer case and or lj50 diffs centres to get a better gear ratio. 3. 5 stud f100 rims suit as do niva lada, rocky, feroza, cj5/7 jeep and sierra, vitara and grand vitara etc. 5 stud cruiser are completely different |
