Wondering now weather wide track diffs would suit my 1uz conversion going to solid axles ? Save me modifying sump are they a much stronger setup ??? |

No they are too narrow and too weak. Hilux axles are also too narrow. You need 60 series or GQ patrol depending on transfer. |

Sierra centres, axles and cvs are designed to run behind a 47kw, <100Nm engine and they can break in stock configuration if abused or old. 1uz is 190-200kw ~400Nm... |

The choice of transfer determines where the rear diff centre needs to be. Centred, or offset to the right. The more questions you ask Rockman, the more I'm convinced this is going to be an unfinished project. |

Rockman normally people that finish a project of the size that you're going for have a decent understanding of what they are doing and why. The questions you're asking show that you don't really have a clear goal on what you're trying to achieve besides putting a V8 in a Vitara. Jeep diffs will have the pinion on the right side (left) for the Triton transfer. What tyre size are you planning to run? I'm not 100% sure of the track width but an upgraded Dana 30 may handle up to a 33" tyre depending on how hard you are on it. Dana 44 fronts are rarer in this country but they would work. Particularly the Dana 44 that came in the front of the later model JK's as they got a few upgrades. You'd have to let us know where the output on the rear of the transfer is for rear diff recommendations. |

I'd love to see it completed, if nothing more than to see the ridiculousness of it brought to life. So don't take advice and criticism as a lack of support. I make no apologies for having doubts, however. |

Gday I'm staying with triton box only because spent a fortune on the manual conversion already to that box and it's fully rebuilt too so that side of things is perfect the rear shaft is straight out from box front shaft lhs I'm happy to stay with triton front diff just some ppl had suggested solid front axle now which I will have to wait to see if lic will allow swap the engeneer said wheel trac is a massive issue I can shorten diffs that's fine I just need a good diff to start with tyre size is prob 32 it's going to be used more on road not extreme 4x4 |
