I have a 93 swb vitara and boughtsprings from King springs a supposedly 40mm lift for the front and has barely raised at all, so my question is should I just buy spacers for the springs and find springs that will lift the car more or would that make the ride too stiff?

Was the car previously lifted?

How much higher do you want it, the Vit will run into CV issues with too much more lift unless you planned to drop the front diff

I only wanted 2" lift and yes I will drop the front diff.

It wasn't previously lifted, I bought the springs for the lift and they didn't give me the height I was looking for.

I have commodore springs in the rear and It has givin me abit more than 2" but the ride is really stiff in the back

The point behind my question is if you fit lift springs there must be a reason why you didn't get the expected lift - you need to determine what that is before proceeding...

Measure the distance between the guard and the bottom of the rim, then others with the same vehicle can compare. Reason to measure to the rim is it negates tyre size or inflation differences.

As the vehicle is 20 odd year old it may have been lifted, did you get photos through the lift process or compare old and new springs

Measure from the bottom of the guard lip (highest point of the arch) to the centre of the wheel/hub. That's the way to compare heights to other vehicles. Measuring to the bottom of the rim causes incorrect height comparisons due to different rim diameters. Measuring to the centre of the wheel eliminates that issue, and it won't matter what size tyre or what tyre pressures they are running.
