Hey guys,

thinking of doing dual battery setup in the wagon for those weekends away.
anyone mounted a battery under the middle/rear seats in an xl7? I've got some vrla (agm) batteries in my camper thinking about mounting one on its side under the seat

Anyone got any other ideas

Nic

why mount it under the seats when you can put it under the bonnet I've got a 2004 gv with an 85 amp hour optima yellow top under the bonnet .

Later models of the GV (he has a 2004) have the washer bottle in the front guard, which makes it easier to do a dual battery under the hood.

If a second battery can be fitted under a new jimnys bonnet then a GV should be easy.

Yes, I had a pair of 23A/h (IIRC?) AGM's paralleled together and fixed into a Maxi Bin. To put them under the seat I'd lift up the bar that you use to slide the middle row; the Maxi Bin would fit under with it lifted, but once released it wouldn't slide back out.

The controller was a kit one from Jaycar (no longer available) that relied on resistance in the cabling to the battery for voltage feedback. So a good kit given the length of the cable run from the controller to the middle row seat. If I was doing it again I'd use a DC-DC charger.
