Replacing front wheel bearings on a Sierra, just want to make sure the oil/grease seal is fitted correct. Should the seal spring side face towards the brake backing plate or against the wheel bearing itself?

Seal spring sides should always face towards the side it is trying to stop the oil/grease getting out. So in your application it should face the bearing.

In my Manual it says seal cup opening towards bearing face, which would have the seal spring towards the stub which is opposite to how seals work.
