Just joined and like to say hello,, I bought a Sierra 1996 Coily this weekend so I am the Noob,,,,.
It’s got 160k on the clock, generally tidy needing some love and seems in reasonable condition, slight smear of surface rust as like a previous owner has been down the beach but no deep imbedded rust if you know what I am trying to say.
It’s unregistered and has a lift kit that looks poorly done with some of the spacers / block missing. So I will re-do the lift or drop it back to standard for registration depending on the legal requirement here in WA. (as I understand 50mm is OK)
The tyres and are 235/75-15R and the rims seem to be wider so I have to find out how that goes down with re-rego so I guess the combination maybe bit of a challenge.
The vehicle has Rancho shocks & King springs so looking at the web sites that doesn’t make sense, kings do make springs for a 1996 coily but Rancho don’t make shocks,, well not showing now.
Thoughts are to split the body off the chassis, replace the suspension arm bushes, fix the damage from the half done lift kit, sand blast and recoat the chassis for a fresh start.
While split I will clean up and repaint all the running gear, under body and go crazy happy time with bitumen paint for that longevity.
Anyhow I will be stalking around the forum as this venture progresses.
