Ive recently aquired a 1994 sierra and it runs bad when its cold.. if i manually open the choke flap it runs nice.
Here is my situation. When cold the flap is fully closed and i mean fully. when i start the car it remains fully closed.. i was sure it was meant to open slightly.
as it warms up it does open just over halfway but never opens to full verticle. when i try to do it by hand it will open verticle and seems very free with no resistance....

ive read when cold to line up the line on the white geared section with another line... i dont know what line they are talking about.

also was sure it was meant to idle higher at cold temperature then lower when it warms. it does no do this. i know i need to adjust the cold idle speed which is fine and i know how to do this..

my main concern first is to the choke set right... any help or picture would be awesome..

thankyou
brent.

In my twelve years around sierras I haven't seen a fully choke working choke.
Its probably is in the Factory service manual (search Suzuki sierra/ samurai FSM on google)

but most of us just remove the choke plate (2 screws) to eliminate it. A few pumps of the pedal will 'prime' the carb rich for starting. Hold it at around 1500rpms whilst driving lightly and it comes to temperature.

If you do get it working keep us updated (or someone may give you better info to help you do it)
