I'm sure there's probably something out there about this but - Has anyone attempted/succeeded in doing a tub conversion on a sierra soft top? My wife would like it done on hers and I thought i'd start looking around Thanks guys |

I don't know what you mean? Do you mean removing a hard top body and fitting a soft top body? |

Sorry I should have been clearer I want to fill behind the front seats in my wife's soft top to make it into ute if you get me? Seems like it should be fairly simple, but I have been wrong before |

Yes it's pretty straightforward. Just be aware of potential for corrosion. There is a factory bulkhead used in rare SWB Utes but it's a corrosion trap. |

look for a maruti back (fibreglass) and rust catcher piece. Alternatively, check the business section on here, and look up bulldog trimming. Dave makes a soft top that has a ute look to it, enclosing behind the seats and across the tray. |

I'm pretty confident you'l never find the SWB ute bits, we're talking real super rare here. Maruti backs are actually possible to find (still rare) and typically go for between $400-$800. The fill in panel on a maruti is different as it doesn't have the cut outs for the wheel tubs, wouldn't be hard to modify though. The fill in panels are harder to find than the roofs. A few guys on here have made their own roofs/backs to do the job. As alien says there's a few soft tops around that do the job (he has one) but Benchais looks the best. |

This build here has a tailgate welded in behind the seats http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/suzuki/8 ... &_k=paw99m A tailgate isn't wide enough. So it'll still need about 100mm added to the width to be wide enough. You'll need to seam seal and properly paint and make sure any water doesn't sit in the back otherwise as Steve said it will be a trap for rust. |

wow double tailgate doesn't look to bad, always wondered why hardtop doors weren't more popular as a starting point for rear section of ute chops |
