Just starting cleaning up an 87 Sierra that I purchased a couple of months ago. Mostly she is in good shape, it started right up with a new battery after sitting in a farmers shed for 5 years, oil and coolant all good. The drive home was about 40ks through the Adelaide hills, but when i got her home and opend up the bonnet there was black muck every where from a slipping fan belt... turns out it was the wrong one so a quick trip to Repco sorted that. Next problem was the transfer case... no low range available... stick just stuck in 2wd. Removed the stick and a new plastic type bushing fixed that up $20 later. So all good... except I have a clunk at the rear end somewhere, sounds like suspension but the diff could also be moving by the feel of it. Has any one experenced any thing like this before? Thx.
