| Post subject: | Sierra rust repairs |
Ive recently acquired a 1989 Sierra soft top from a family member who used it as a beach car for the past 10 years. Its been regularly serviced and always kept under covers and with a cover when not in use. Has been washed every time its been on the beach but the rust still manages to get to it. Im wondering where I should start on repairing this and what are some tips to repair a project of this extent. Majority of the rust seems to be just surface rust and there are no major rust holes that I am aware of. I hope to remove the body and sand blast it then repair all major rust parts. I also plan to blast the chassis and have that coated in a chassis paint of some sort. I have access to a sandblaster and a sandblasting room as well as a welder. Im not planning on it being a pretty paint job but just something that doesn't look completely botched. Or is it a cheaper option to replace the body instead? Will a 1981 sierra ute cab fit onto this chassis? PHOTOS https://www.dropbox.com/sh/x6r4gz9brhxt ... 0sNba?dl=0 |

Or is it just worth searching for a new body? Will a 1981 ute cab fit the 1989 WT chassis? Saw a cheap one selling on gumtree |

Nah stick with it and repair it, will be very satisfying when it's all done and these cars are getting rarer and rarer so it's a good deed to save what you can |
