| Post subject: | 31" Tire Pressures |
Hi All Just got a Sierra recently and the ride is pretty terrible. I'm hoping I can improve that a bit with tire pressures. Its currently only running on the center of the tire with What pressures do you recommend running in a 31" tire on the street and in the sand. I'm guessing a lot lower than I'm used to doing in my prado. cheers Damo |

Most on here run 20-25 onroad. It depends what sort of sand you're driving on but I run 5-6psi in Suzukis. I've never lost a bead, even running tube rims (no safety bead) but I'm not a dough nuts on the beach sort of guy either. |

Depends on the tyres too! I've had a few different brands of 31x10.5 and they all vary. Down at low pressures is most noticeable. Simex ET's down to 6psi no worries and stiff as. BFG KM2 to 8psi and they fall off the rim. Kumho KL71 down to 8psi and perform brilliant. General Grabber SRL down to 8psi no worries. On the upper end - the Simex wanted around 22psi front and 18psi rear. KM2 around 24psi front and 20psi rear. KL71 & SRL 26 front 22 rear. This is not going via the 4psi rule or whatever, it's just based on the contact patch on the road and how it feels to drive. Realistically those pressures on the upper end should be a touch lower, but i like to corner fast, so i'm willing to sacrifice some comfort in favour of handling. |

Sierras are light so you need to let a fair bit out before the tyre's start to bag out |

31" silver stone EX117 mud tyres I used 14psi on road and 3psi off. Never had a issue. |

On a smaller rim say 15x7 you will be able to go lower. |
