Hi guys

I'm chasing possible causes and suggested remedies for a lean in the front drivers side wheel on my 2009 jimny.

First a little history.

Hit a pig about 4 years ago on the drivers side putting it under the wheel never really noticed and damage but it was after that I started to notice the wonderful wobbles between 70-80kph

Roughly two years ago it was "flipped" onto the passenger side while driving on road (I'm not teaching any more of my little darlings to drive by the way) apart from some cosmetic panel damage it was cleared of any major problems.

Between 12 and 18 months ago after getting back from a run and replacing the clutch (this was the first major replacement for both me and the Jim), I first noticed the lean in the wheel, (wheel leaning inwards at the top.) at first I thought it could be worn bushes or something to that affect and didn't think to much of it.

In the last week I've had it lifted with some nice 31" muddies fitted. The first thing I've noticed is the wobble has gone(touch wood) second is the lean on the front drivers wheel is much more noticeable probably because of the bigger tyres.

So far I have ruled out the possibility of the cause being any worn bushes or the like as I've had them all replaced when I had the lift installed. I also checked the wheel bearings by trying to shake the wheel in an up-down fashion with no movement in it

As I have almost zero knowledge of how the steering and front end adjustment works, I can only think that my problem lies in the axle, diff or maybe even the hub.

I haven't noticed any strange noise or weird behaviour in the steering and my only concern right now is the uneven wear on the tyre.

Any insight you could give me would be greatly appreciated, and I'll keep updating with any extra stuff I find in the mean time.

My jimny leaned because I am fat. I just put a 8mm coil spacer on the front drivers side coil

Is the car leaning or is the diff bent?

A few pics might help.

Sounds like a bent housing to me.

If the wheel is leaning, either the axle housing or the knuckle is bent.

I carry a few extra pounds myself but I don't notice any lean while I'm in it.

The car itself isn't leaning but a bent diff is one of possibilities. I would assume that if the diff/axle housing was to blame that it would give some sort of telltale noise while 4WD was engaged.

Sounds like the knuckle would be worth investigating.

I would be checking the wheel and kingpin bearings

Something's bent.. the steering knuckle is sitting at rather an acute angle on the end of the diff housing.. start pulling it apart and the problem will likely become clear soon enough

Likely to be kingpins or something in the knuckle, if not the end of the diff housing/knuckle
