A old guy behind the pub said it'd caused by fucked bearing..apparently you can't get the broken studs out. Needs a new hub, he had wrapped hessen and duct tape around it and driven 60klms with oil leaking out. We talked him out of driving to Mareeba. Maybe ?? bye |

If it's the axle flange bolts then yes, a failed wheel bearing will do it. |

You can get the snapped studs out, it's a bitch, but can be done. Agree with tanshi, get a bit of play and they will shear off. From memory they're pretty long, 100mm or so??? My mate used threaded bar to get out of the shit. You might also get lucky with a really long bolt, but I'm pretty sure you need thread right up to the head. Either way they'll need to be replaced with proper high tensile studs as soon as possible. |

Common problem caused by a number of different issues. Drill and tap them like any broken stud/bolt. Or drill them to 10mm and use a cap bolt. |

Sorry, I've been back to the pub. I rang FNQ Filters and spares at Mareeba at 5.05pm, and they said it can be caused by a variety of reasons. He said when they come loose, the dowels can elongate and replacing studs and dowels will be a temporary fix, a new hub is only $190 and bearings and shit will only add up to $300. I'll drive the guy into Mareeba tomorrow morning and replacing parts is supposed to be idiot proof. I qualify.. Thanks anyway.. bye |

It's very common. Best to upgrade to 10mm studs, my 2015 vdj79 has done it. It's pretty annoying |

It took us all day. We went and annoyed the fitter behind the pub three times. It took 1 hr to put the old studs in the new hub. All good now. We couldn't see how the seal would fit, the fitter put it in in 2mins. thanks. bye |
