Hey guys, my tailgate has rusted and torn through from carrying a big ol'spare on the back, so I'm looking to replace it. I've found a SJ80 tailgate in great nick, that looks like identical to what I have (in the picture). I'm just wondering if they're the same dimensions, or if I'll get a nasty surprise if I purchase it and try and fit it?
Cheers, Steve.

Thanks mate. It's from a wrecker, so I guess there's a chance I can take it back anyway.

I think the tyre mounting brackets have a different bolt pattern

Tin top or softop? Tin top tailgates had 2 types of spare wheel carrier. And those bolted in different locations. I think it was early sj50 NT they changed over.

Softop mate. Just went and picked it up this morning. The wrecker said they all used the same dimensions, and it looks the part, so happy days. If anyone is interested, I paid $75 for it. Looks pristine and as it turns out, they've cut 6x9 speaker boxes into it, and padded it out. Very tidy.
