I bought a 96 Coily (I know) the other week a was told it had a new windscreen wiper motor. When I got it home the bloody wipers no worky-worky. Not a peep, buzz or hum, the fuse was good and the squirter worked. I took the wiper motor out and got it to run on the bench with +12v to the Blue/Red and -12v to the Blue/White leads. Hmmm. Put the thing back in but left the connectors exposed through the removed dash compartment and took it to an auto-spark this arvo - "Motor's cactus mate". Shite. Got home and went to work measuring the resistance and voltage on all 4 pins with the Ignition off and then on for all 4 positions (Off, int, low & high). Was there a pattern? God knows. Anyhoo I disconnected the motor connector and supplied a 12v feed to the pins, as on the bench (+12v to the Blue/Red and -12v to the Blue/White) - The wipers worked. I disconnected the Negative and they were still going until I disconnected the Positive (+12v to the Blue/Red alone did nothing - even with the motor in place and grounded). Now Reconnect the Molex and THEY WORK! (front of plug - male pins) Blue/Red Blue --------------- | +12v n/c | Wiper Motor ------cable--------- | -12v n/c | --------------- Blue/White Blue/Black Disconnect Wiper Motor | +12v to Blue/Red & -12v to Blue/White | Motor Runs | Remove -12v | Motor still runs | Disconnect +12v | Motor Stops | Reconnect Wiper Motor | WORKY - WORKY! |

Last week i used the washers and the wipers stopped, so I reset the wiper motor as before and disconnected the washer motor. Now they work perfectly all the time, which makes me wonder if a crappy connection to the washer motor or cactus / overloaded (as simple as grubby tubing?) washer motor causes a 'disturbance in the Force' in the wiper circuit? See what happens after new tubing and washer motor fitted. I still love rain-x |

I still love rain-x Yeah,Suzuki uses very thin gauge wiring,easily break inside insulation when there is a disturbance or bent at a sharp angle etc.We have a workshop just up the road and he won't work on Sierra's or Vitara's with an electrical fault,they are common and take up too much time to pinpoint,now the local Auto Electrician he has been referring owners too doesn't want any more Suzuki's referred that are more than 10 years old. I'm surprised there isn't more mention of it on this Forum,might be a 1990's thing and the older models are OK. |

When I bought my car (a 98 GV) the wipers worked, but one speed only and no self park - the motor and it's connector is directly behind the battery - the connector was full of corrosion - I cut it out and hard wired everything directly into the motor and it's been that way for the last ten years or so. |
