So what fits? From the research I have done Parts going into the sj51 - engine 16v - power steering - front disc brakes (I believe they are a direct swap) - seats (front) - seat belts Can/has anyone done a complete dash swap? Current sj51 has aircon etc will be Hooking this all back up, but the dash is rubbish few cracks. Are the rear discs swappable ? Any other parts useful of the vitara ? Sierra rear rotors (and maybe calipers depending on kit) can go on the rear with a kit such as ADD engineerings. Depending on model the front vitara brakes might not be ventilated, in which case they're not really an upgrade. Master cylinder and booster Many other things can be fitted, but require more work to fit. Front diff gears Rear axle (requires shortening and other work) Fuel tank Complete wiring loom Steering column Gearbox Trans tunnel Radiator And the rear coil suspension can be used in part to coil covert a sierra. However the seats are a pain to covert to work in a sierra and the dash won't swap at all. |

Good man thank you! Read that a jimny dash will fit or close to with minor mods but then I'll either have to replace the loom to match or get one made to mesh/ 16v to jimny dash Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know where you read that. Yes, a jimny dash is the right width. Nothing else about it fits though. Honestly, dash swaps are ridiculously hard if you want the finished product to be functional. (Like properly mounted, the heater controls work etc) A coil sierra dash is the only feasible swap if you're looking for a newer dash. Personally I don't really understand the point- it's a tonne of work that doesn't make the car work better in any way, but I agree it looks better. Steve. |

sj51 is getting a total strip and respray so if its all out, then not a huge issue previous owner has made mess of the electrics! so the more electrics i can bring over from the vitara the better

That's not a mess, it's just had the tape removed. Swapping in a whole loom from the donor car will be about 1084 times more work than that. |

Like this much mess. (Efi vitara with aw-4 auto. Loom had already had all unneeded wires stripped out. From my build thread. I have mounted the computers under the dash near the instruments - kind of where they are in a Vitara. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Might just cut/shunt the vitara dash into the sierra get rid of the glovebox worst case it doesn't work! It's worthless part anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't get it. It's going to look like garbage, you'll have no knee room, no heater controls, the column, pedals and dash will all interfere- it will end up looking like a mess and making the car less functional (and illegal) The whole shape of the inside of the car is different. |

What are you trying to fix by doing a dash swap? |

Good luck mate, as it will not fit, you're going to waste some time fucking around trying to fit a curved dash in a straight car, and that is about the least of your problems. Some of us have already had this argument and then wasted a lot of time. Your more than welcom to take the old vit dash that's been hacked out of my shed if you want to see how silly it is. Sj80 is your modern dash and door cards, otherwise live with the one you have, it's not that bad. |

Worst case scenario is you'll irreversibly modify the existing dash support structure and heater box trying to make this mess work before you realise it won't fit, so you'll have to source a bunch of replacement parts just to get it back together. Run a tape measure over the vitara dash- you'll see quickly how completely different it is and how much it will intrude into the cabin. |

As an aside, you'll note I fitted a vitara cluster to my car. This was done because the early 1.0 litre cluster didn't have provision for all the warning/status lights, tach etc and I wanted to keep the dash clean. It was only possible because early 1.0 dashes are steel so I could fabricate a shroud for the cluster easily. It was still an epic amount of work and it's a pain to disassemble or work with. I have a vitara tilt column in my car but even then, the spacing between the binnacle and the column is completely different than in a vitara so I had to chop up the binnacle and it still fouls the hazard switch. The architecture of the cars is completely different. |

Link still not working to show the picture but I pasted it into my browser- That's just a wide track dash (with a ju cluster- no tach) and will basically bolt in. It's the least popular sierra dash so shouldn't be hard to find one. They all have a broken oddments bin lid now and most have a broken clock. It's no upgrade from what you have, but if you prefer the look, go crazy- it will fit. |

Can mount the ECU up behind the glovebox, above the cable for the bonnet release. That's how i've done a couple. Made some mounts and it pretty much jams up under the top of the dash. If you don't want to add anymore more holes to the firewall this is the cleanest way, reuse the existing hole cut out in the passenger side top of the firewall and neatly put everything in the factory bung. It all fits, then you only need to run 3-4 cable inside the dash to the drivers side. |

That's how I'd deal with an ECU only swap into a 1.3 Sierra. On my 1.0 I put the ECU and TCC on the driver's side, mimicking where they are in a Vitara. |

No. A LWB tank won't fit with the factory shock mount crossmember in place. With a body lift you can cut the floor out and drop the tank 1/2 through the floor. |

Yeah no cutting! So what's the trick to the efi tank? Just run a pump/pickup in the existing Lwb carby tank or go out and find a Coily tank? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Coil tank External fuel system (yuk) Cut and shut a baleno /vitara fuel pump flange onto the sierra tank 1.6 efi SWB vitara tank is easier to fit than a LWB but may still need some chassis mods (it'll be very close though) |

I use pierberg efi pump 7.21287.53.0 Self priming to 0.6m, just fit it where your filter goes and mount z200 comodoore filter in your engine bay. Make sure its a pierberg pump as theres a shitload of other pumps listed under the same code that dont have the self priming feature |

As much as I dislike external fuel pumps, that's undoubtedly the best solution if it's impossible to run a swimmer pump. |
