Anyone have suggestions for an aftermarket ecu for the M18a engine?

The engine is from an auto Liana but is going into a Manual Jimny.

Cheers :)

Not aware of any sort of plug and play option.

Would you know if the ecu from the auto Liana would work when hooked up to the m18 with a manual gearbox?

The probability is NO - most automatics after the late 90's are electronically controlled and whilst some vehicles do have separate transmission controllers, the trend has been to integrate the transmission control into the engine control which becomes known as a PCU or Powertrain control unit.

I think you need to read the M series swap thread in the Good Tech section in some detail.

In short, it seems the M13 computer will (sort of) run an M18 with varying and largely unverified results. (as in, little data as to whether the engine is running to its full potential)
It seems the M18 ECU is a nightmare to swap into an M13 Jimmy and results in shenanigans around the 4WD system, immobiliser etc.

That's a quick and rough summary though. There's loads of detail in the thread.

Cheers guys. Have had a more detailed look through some threads and have decided on an adaptronic ecu.
