Hi all going to check out and hopefully buy my first jimny tomorrow (first jimny not first Suzuki 4wd had a seirra and a vitara before) Where do you guys get your bits from ( lifts. Wheels. Barwork. And other bits and pieces) have been poking around looking for a site that specially sells off road parts I have found a few in the U.K. But I wondering if anyone can give me a site to drool over closser to home |

Arb fits bullbars for Jimny, as well as lockers and the like. I bought my lift on ebay and there is tons of Jimny stuff on there. |

Cheers I'll check eBay out What lift do you end up getting SJF I'm dreaming of lockers but that will be a bit further down the track still need to pick my jimny up |

2 inch is the biggest lift as far as legality goes, but if you want to get it signed off by an engineer I know they can go up to 4 or 5 inch |

Ok thanks I'll keep that in mind I know the biggest tyre with a 2 inch lift is 215/75/15 without scrubbing it's it worth making the 235/75/15 work ie no scrubbing or is the scrubbing very minimal think is my jimny is shiny and new I'd rather not cut it up (yet ) |

Yes and no - the low range gearing and highway RPM/power starts to get annoying with the 235/75/15's so you'll start looking at gearing (auto transfer case or sierra transfer case if your more hardcore). I only run an OME 2" at best and my flares are pretty messed up from going to that size tyre - but my rims are a 15x8 which simply doesn't work - looks good though and doesn't get caught in many ruts. |

Three things fit bigger tyres: Bumpstop spacing Guard cutting/hammering etc Body lift A suspension lift just resets the rest point of the suspension. It does not change the minimum distance between the tyre and the guard when the suspension is in motion. Therefore, if the tyre scrubbed at standard height, once the "lifted" suspension flexes, the axles move into the same position as they were in with no lift and the scrubbing returns. This is the single most misunderstood 4WD fact. The idea suspension lift "fits bigger tyres" is so pervasive it's almost never questioned. A 215 is the biggest tyre you can fit for a number of reasons. Jimny's don't really like much suspension lift. |

Ok so 215s might be best for my first set of tyres. In terms of lifts I have seen a lot of opinions on the TD 80mm kits ( mostly if not all bad opinions) so I was looking at the 60 mm TD kit is the tog dog product a problem in the smaller lifts I'm staying away from the larger lifts but 60mm seems to me to be a happy medium Regards tex Cheers for the wisdom guys greatly appreciated |

From what I've seen of the way Jimny's work with lifted springs, I'd keep lift under 50mm. |

In my opinion 215s and 50mm lift is the best way to start with a Jimny. Can't say I've read very single Jimny lift thread, but every one that I have read says that Tough Dog kits are waaaaaayyyyy too stiff for Jimnys. And the eBay kits rarely get a good wrap either. Tough Dog are the stiffest, Old Man Emu are the softest, all the rest are much of a muchness. Don't pay too much attention to what they say on the box. 50mm Old Man Emu lifts don't lift the front any more then 15mm. My 40mm Dobinsons kit lifted my Jimny by 50mm all round (cause I'm not a fan of the OME old school dragster look). Basically any kit around 50mm is where you should be looking. Including castor correction bushes will save you from some steering issues down the track too... As far as local suppliers for Jimny parts, unfortunately there's no really good sites that I found with everything. You have to shop around for different bits and pieces. |

Ok 50 mm it is then a friend is a supplier of dobinson suspension so I might give him call and see what he can dig up and seeing as I'm a mechanic at a I should be able to get tyres fairly easily in that size. I'm starting to get an idea on where to go with my Jim thanks a lot guys. |
