Hey all has anyone put led globes in their Vitara and do they work. I was going to order a set yesterday but my cousin said they won't work due to the negative switching so I thought I'd jump on here and ask some people with experience. Thanks in advance |

Both sets ive run in 2 different Sierra's with no issue. Cheaper LED lights have a scattered pattern and may "dazzle" oncoming cars though. |

Thanks for the info and scattered light shouldn't be a problem as I'll be using stedi bulbs |

Scattered light will ALWAYS be a problem - you're using optics (lens & reflector combination) designed for a filament light source with LEDs which emit light differently. A filament has a 360* radiation pattern, LEDs have at most 170*, so manufacturers try to replicate the 360* radiation by mounting the LEDs back to back, but it still does not deliver. |

Sorry my mistake I was led to believe the decent bulbs didn't have problems with scattering |

I have JW Speaker LED globes in my quadoptic inserts (factory defender) and I'm quite happy with the light pattern. It's certainly not pushing light onto the opposite lane on dipped beam. |

Probably no one cares, but I bought a set of these H3 LED globes to try out for giggles and because I'm a bit of a lights nerd. For a partly $18 (they were $17.95 when I bought them) it was worth a shot. I measured the actual consumed power and it was 30w each. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Piece-Vehi ... 2749.l2649 First off I tried them in a Narva 160/115. Vs the 100w halogen globe they pretty much sucked. Much less distance and less light in the foreground but a bit wider spread where it was focused. I tried varying the depth of the globe in the housing but that didn't help. I've tried HIDs in these before and whilst it was brighter it wasn't really any better as the light was quite scattered and spotty. I also tried them in my old red ring eBay spec 7" HIDs. This was much better, the light was wider and much "smoother" than the HID. The distance came up a little shorter but the HIDs are over 50% more powerful (measured 48w iirc) so that's to be expected as the luminous efficacy is probably pretty similar. It shows the difference the reflector makes. I'd love to try a brighter LED globe in these as I think it would be better than the HID. The distance wasn't much shorter but the light was just so "clean" compared to the hid. |

There is no reason it shouldn't work, and no reason why anything should blow, but, if I recall correctly, you're not noted for having the best of luck The only potential problem I can see is that it was designed for a Samurai so wiring lengths may not be ideal for a GV. |

Haha. Yeah I'm super cautious what I touch now. |
