Hey I have an intermittent check engine light on my 96 v6 lwb vitara and am wondering if it would be obd2 or not and don't hey store codes even if the lights not currently on. Won't have time to look at it until at least the weekend so any help will be appreciated

On my J20a the intermittent check engine light was the O2 sensor. $60 odd delivered off ebay and piece of piss to put in.

I had the same experience with an intermittent O2 engine light. Went to super cheap, for$28 they confirmed with their scanner.

With a 96 vitara you would prob get good results using the paper clip method. Pretty sure it won't be obd2

A 96 will be OBDI and it will store "historic" codes until the battery is disconnected or the codes cleared.

The light came on twice today and noticed when it comes on the speedo needle shakes and moves by about 10km the light will stay on until I lift my foot off the throttle

On a 96 SV620 the speedometer is a conventional cable driven unit, so, it's extremely unlikely the two are related.

That's a bit of a relief but it did it both times the light came on
