Hi everyone, I have just bought an all original Lj80v and I'm going to rebuild her from the ground up. I'm a total noob and have zero knowledge when it comes to rebuilding cars but I'm keen to learn. My question to the group, is the F8A engine in the lj80 the same as the Suzuki 800 hatch? Would it be possible to swap the engines and also put the 2 speed auto gearbox from the hatch into the lj80? I'm located in Brisbane so any locals willing to help or give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated! |

No, the alto has a transverse engine, the LJ is longitudinal. Totally different type of transmission. If you REALLY want an auto LJ the best option would be an F6a 660cc turbo three cylinder with the three speed auto, or K6a 660cc triple with a four speed auto from a Japanese market Kei jimny. |

Thanks for the information guys, this is exactly why I’m in the noob section! Gwagensteve, does the F6A have the same engine mounts and would the automatic gearbox fit or would I need to alter the gearbox tunnel? MrRocky, the lj10 website is awesome! Thanks for the link! |
