Does anyone know if the old model bonnet will fit the new model jimny. I am fixing the car I am building as a buggy and need a better condition bonnet and left guard. I can get a old shape bonnet very cheap. Just wanted to know my options.

No the guards are taller above the headlights and the bonnet is a diffferent shape to match.

Or you could use all old model panels which will be considerably easier and cheaper to get.

That’s perfect, I need a bonnet and left guard anyway, I would only be buying another right/ drivers side guard. Definitely cheaper

The radiator is mounted to the chassis like a Sierra.

I believe the front end structure is the same, there was a thread on here a few years back about it. Also recently I was talking to a wrecker who said it's the same (he'd fitted a facelift grill to an early Jimny that had a damaged lower lip on the bonnet. He had cut off the lower portion of the bonnet) but of course you'd want to confirm. In any case the front end structure is fully welded.

It's a bit messy to swap between the 2 - the later cars, as mentioned have taller guards & bonnet.
To achieve the height difference, there is a 'filler' panel that sits on the inner guard (which is the same pressing) - this would have to be removed (spot welded on) for earlier panels to fit.
The early bonnet has the grill attached, where as the later bonnet is just a bonnet, no grill.
This might have implications, like Steve said, for the rad. support panel.
Lights, AFAIK are the same.
No doubt it could be done (as can almost anything, given enough time & money) but likely not worth the effort.
