most cars in late 70s were done in acrylic ( aslo called laquer in the US). trucks were enamel and a hot new technology was developing called baked enamel. reason i ask is that i'm stripping off the bumper bar an NO stripper is gettingt the paint off. i tired the bunnings and septone one and it doesn't even bite, the paint appears to be very thick (unlike the body) so the question is a. what type was the paint b. is the bumper done in a different kind of paint |

Unsure what they were originally. However. If you can get your hands on some CAM paint stripper (most auto paint supply places can get it) and then cover it with plastic it will increase the effectiveness. |
