Hi, I have a MG410 the engine was redone a decade or so back when the coolant pump failed and causing a blown head gasket, I was a kid back then. It has since done about 5000km, with engine going to the half way mark at speed less then 20km/hr. Does over heat past 30km/hr. The fan shroud is also slightly deformed on top and bottom, causing some air to sucked in without going through the radiator fins, such that when I press the shroud against the radiator I can feel warm air. Now while I was changing the radiator to new one (after flushing the system) I noticed traces of oil probably a streak of oil less then a small drop. Not sure if the funnel that I used to fill coolant/water had them. Lets assume there aren't any cracks. Apart from the head gasket location, what other places can the coolant/water come in contact with the Oil. Does the valve, valve guide, valve stem seal pass through the water/coolant chamber internally inside the head or is that chamber isolated with out any other seals, other then the head gasket. |

No. It’s most likely left over from when the head gasket failed. |

So, you mean to say that there is No other way the oil can come in contact with coolant/water of the radiator such has valve guide/seal etc. This image of the F10A is so confusing. http://files.uk2sitebuilder.com/uk2grou ... away_1.jpg |

The head has internal water passages around all the stuff you mention, but if you say "Lets assume there aren't any cracks", then the only place is the head gasket. Autos & some diesels have water cooled / heated 'exchanges' that can introduce oil into coolant water, but that's not the case with your F10A. Rgs, Michael |
