Hi all,

Wanting some advice on buying a 2006 Grand Vitara. It's a Manual , 2.0 L petty . It’s done 178,000 kilometres ,
Duel battery using a red arc system , it has a 3inc lift , with bf goodridge A/T tyres . It has a VFA electric winch with a outback bull bar , and LED spot lights.

The guy is asking $9600 for the car along with some camping equipment. Including a kings rooftop tent, waeco fridge and a few other smaller things. I have no clue about the market value of the car and can't find many online for sale to compare the price.

Any advice is welcome :)

Nathan

3 inch lift sounds weird, NGV's dont like being lifted much at all, at least with a J20 you avoid the early J24 and the head/block cracking problems.

Agree, would be hugely surprised if it is 3" over stock height.
IMO, J20 is just adequate, power wise for a 5door, but if it is a 3 door, then ok. Take it for a decent drive to see if it suits.
J20 is not a bad engine, but likes to have oil changes when they're due, so check service history.
$9600 seems a little high, but if you want / need all the extras, it make a bit more sense.
The H27A V6 had more power, but drinks more fuel.
These early cars didn't have traction control & it can be surprisingly easy to get 'stuck' as wheel travel is not great.
A later car with traction control is a fair bit better off road - still not great.
Depends on what you want to do with it.
