so int he manual it says to line up the rotor with the dizzymark (notch) at 10deg BTC what it doesn't say to line it up on centre, left or tight edge? the same instruction is repeated in the dizzy and ignition sections

That is the instructions for installing the distributor that will allow the engine to run well enough to do a more accurate adjustment with a timing light, so go for the rotor centre close to the No1 terminal. Then, once installed, adjust the final position using a timing light. Always do this, and don't just rely on the static installation position alone. So the position of the rotor on installation is not quite critical, it's just a "near enough" to allow the engine to fire up.
Hint: If you're at the point of installing the dizzy, a G13A/BA or G16A distributor with the electronic ignition unit will be far more reliable unit than the points/condenser dizzy originally fitted to the F8A/F10A engines. The electronic units bolt in and wire up exactly the same and are timed and adjusted as per the manual, just one less thing to worry about.

done. cant say its a great design, having to put in oil separately into that cavity. plus spilling out the oil everywhere when you take out the shaft will look at all the upgrades once the beast is going
