I have not stripped a g16 down enough to know , is it possible to remove a rod out the bottom leaving the crank and piston in place . I know it would not be good practice etc just contemplating a dodgy repair for a very limited time , one day , in a non road legal 4x4 . While on the stupid questions , are g16 8v and 16v rods the same . Just in boew and length etc not fused about strength/thickness etc . Cheers Chris |

you'll never get the piston past the crank, and if you do you'll never get it back is with the rings in tact just remove the head, its a ten minute job |

Was planning to leave the piston in place . Went out and flipped the sump off an engine and , yeh , theres no way you would get it out . oh well plan b |

Ahaha well there's no way you'll get the rod out without the piston coming along for the ride - you can't get the gudeon pin out if it's still in the cylinder |
