Hey guys,
I bought a 95 Sierra with a dodgey lift. They did the old upside down leaf spring trick. With big tyres it looks cool but doesn't offer any suspension whatsoever. I need a spring suspension kit and I'd like to keep the height. From what I've read OEM are the way to go. I can't find any compatible with the 95 series. Can I go with the 96 model spec kit and convert it?

No conversion necessary. 1981-1996 are interchangeable.

Do consider that suspension lift doesn’t have anything to do with fitting bigger tyres.

As this is the NOOB section, could you tell us all what you mean by the "Old upside down leaf" trick is, because you can't actually fit the leaves in a Sierra upside down. Maybe you mean "Spring Over Axle", which if so, it is usually done with standard leaves with no lift at all, or very low lift. If you wan't to keep the approx 4"-5" of lift that SPOA gives, but mount the leaves back under the axle (as per OEM), you will find springs with that much camber will be very hard riding and give poor travel.

'96 Sierra is a Coil sprung suspension, too much work to convert a leafy Sierra. For the same effort, you could fab a completely custom 4 or 5 link set up with far more travel.

96 is the changeover year.
Flipping the rear overload spring will most likely be what’s being referred to.
