Hi guys. First things first; this forum is great! Such a trove of info and ideas. After a couple of years lurking we’ve finally got a Suzuki. Timing belt is overdue for replacement, I’m just wondering what else I should replace at the same time? 1992 Vitara manual 250,000km Any other hot tips for changing the belt are welcome too. Cheers! |

The only part of consequence associated with the timing belt is the water pump. As for tips- mark the location of both pulleys relative to the head/block before you remove the belt and don’t move them at all when swapping the belt and you won’t have to time the motor from scratch. Steve. |

Rotate the engine to line up the timing marks before removing the old belt, and also replace the tensioner pulley - some folks like to replace the crank and cam seals whilst they are in there. |

Definitely replace water pump and pulley. I would also have a good play with the crank bolt and make sure it is still mega tight with no play. |
