hey all I have been having heavy clutch issues for a while now and decided to do something about it....
pull gear box out all good
clutch out thinking i did something wrong installing it and no all good.

Now the details.
The clutch KSZ19001-1A Xtreme Clutch Kit-Organic
and new clutch cable, secured correctly and easy movement

I have had to have the clutch that tight that the throw out bearing has had to sit on the pressure plate and has to go all the way down and just makes it disengage. Been doing lots of reading and my mind hurts from things it should be etc however cant seem to work it out.

Cant put the clutch in the wrong way due to how large one side of it is,
Used the throw out bearing supplied with the clutch kit
There is a mark on the pressure plate where the throw out bearing has been sitting

Help please need some noob help for what should be a simple thing 8O 8O 8O 8O

the clutch in mine is currently a heavy duty as well and it starts to bite just as the pedal is nearly all the way decompressed lol i just assumed it was a HD clutch thing. at first it use to piss me off but i just got use to it. im taking mine out soon to do it as the throw out bearing sounds like its rooted on mine and my main seal needs doing. im probably going back to an OEM clutch as i dont go off roading much and baby it around town.

Ok just a thought. How old is the clutch? How many Km?

Did you put it in or was it already in?

The thrust bearing I believe shouldn’t contact the pressure plate while the clutch is out. That keeps the trust bearing spinning all the time and will wear the bearing/heat the bearing up. It’s like keeping your foot resting on the clutch while your driving he highway.

You need to have some free play in the clutch before it begins to engage. The FSM will give you the measurements which are 20-30mm free travel.

So a few things occur to me,

A) it’s not adjusted properly.
B) it’s worn
C) it’s a HD clutch

The reason I wonder if it’s due to wear is ‘I believe’ (ie I’ve never tested this theory and can’t confirm this for sure) a clutch plate with worn springs can lose its mechanical advantage making the clutch pedal feel heavier.

Another thought is that HD clutches are heavier by their very nature.

Perhaps a combo of all three?

I’d try putting a stick clutch back in (the stock clutch really is pretty damn good unless you’re trying to run double the HP or torque and 64” tyres), make sure it’s adjusted properly and see how you go.
