So lately I've been having dramas with lots of grinding noises when trying to change gears. It's been happening for maybe three days now, second is the worst and third will go into gear fine but gets stuck when I try to take it out of third. I emptied to oil out today and found a lot of really coarse brass shavings, so I'm thinking synchronisers, question now is what to do about it. I know you can get rebuild kits for a 5 speed but I can't find any information about the 4 speed and I don't want to do anything before I know I can get parts. Obviously the transmission is going to have to come out but is it even worth trying to save or should I try to source another, if that's the case what gearbox do I need? A five speed won't go so what about one out of a Maruti, or is it stupid to buy a second hand transmission, I can't imagine I'll come across another sj40 4 speed in serviceable condition.
