Hi guys, got a 03 gv. I'm looking for stronger cv joints? Any help on where to buy or make a hybrid from toyota cv would be good, cheers. |

Not sure if you need aftermarket control arms or not but you'll need the zukparts.com hilux cv kit. you'll need a stubby shaft for drivers side ideally weld a hilux bolt pattern flange on, you'll have to make diff drop brackets with clearance for adapters, custom bushes for spindles you'll also have to clearance the knuckle for the hilux bell and I needed to space the passenger side over 50mm. pics here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=54522 |

Have you got diff drops? How do you drive? IE clutch dumps or gentle throttle in an auto? What CV's are you using now? Have you got the support bush fitted? Are you running a sway bar? Nothing easy an off the shelf that I've found. |

Got 30' tyres but will be running 31's next, no diff drops but the 3 inch lift kit has and will be using. Drive it hard in a manual, aftermarket ones but I've busted them too. What support bush? No sway bar mate. |

Time for a support bush, LHS driveshaft on the right, the biggest diff drops you can get and less suspension lift. |

Support bush is a nylon ring (Suzuki genuine part to 'fix' front diff oil leaks - other peolpe have made them as well) to give the D/S inside CV shaft something to be supported by, other than flopping around in the diff side gear. It's a bit trickier to put a P/S (bolted) stub shaft in the D/S than it is in a Vitara. I've heard it is possible to get Ford Explorer CVs to work in a GV, but got no details & it's not going to be bolt in regardless. Diff drops is more of a diff roll, as not much can be easily done with the pinion mount on the crossmember. Many people who wheel a GV hard, go back to running a swaybar on the front - yes it limits droop, but yes, it saves CVs. I run 31" (close enough to - 245/75R16) with OME springs - not a big lift, but have had to trim the car in various places & extend bump stops to get them on & I still get rubbing, but I'm fine with that. As said above. Fit diff drops. Fit diff/cv support bush (diff out job) Refit swaybar. Wind back your love of throttle. Be gentler on the clutch. See how that goes. If your still snapping them more than every few trips, time for a Sierra. |
