Hi all, first post...

I'm looking at picking up a suzuki sierra as a bit of a project car, currently own a series 1 GU as my daily. New to suzukis in general and struggling to find info on these. So, what is the story? are they any good or not worth the effort? As far as I'm aware, its all stock and been sitting for 10 years, how is the stock engine ok or underpowered? I'm fully expecting it to take fair effort to get back on the road.

Whether they are any good or worth the effort depends on what you're going to use it for. (and the condition it's currently in)

They're great off-road... and that's about where it ends. Daily driving, touring, being a race car, etc aren't their strong points.

Stock engine is fine as far as power goes.

Cheers Beery, yeah I'm certainly under no delusions of it being a comfortable ride, going fast or being quiet :) it's a soft top, so the main goal is really a beach cruiser and vehicle to learn some deeper mechanical skills.

Cool, a stock sierra will basically drive any beach you can put it on with ease, except for some dunes /steep soft sections where power may become an issue.

They're awesome to work on due to being so simple. Stuff it easy to get at, nothing's big or heavy to remove, most jobs are quick. parts are still okay to get, however the quality on some stuff is questionable these days. Genuine parts are still available for a lot of things and are your best bet most of the time.

The main deal breaker is rust, Particularly with a soft top. If it's got loads of it you need to think really hard whether you want to deal with it or find a cleaner car to start with.

Well... I pulled the trigger :) so now I have a zook. Apart from rust on the side sills ( which seems very common and fixable ), it's pretty rust free.
