The GS1000 is still one of the coolest bikes ever (according to my chilhood bike boners). It's hard to find a clean GS these days; the guy across the road has one next to his pool table that has been gathering dust for a decade but won't let the damn thing go!

They were a shaft drive slug. Suzuki had some awesome bikes from 75 to 85 but the gs1000 wasn't one of them.
The awesome ones were katanas, GSX and the GSXRs

The first GSX pretty much looked the same but was chain drive, a 4 valve motor and went like stink while at the same time not handling very well. Awesome fun bikes to ride.

A slug that was faster than almost every other bike at the time in a straight line. Just don't point the thing at a corner... or expect it to be reliable.

Don't get me wrong, the bike is ridiculously flawed in so many ways. But much like that old bastard that lusts after dodgy Citroens that never worked, the GS1000 will always have a soft spot in my heart. Stop shitting on my childhood, man! Next you'll start telling me that LJ50's aren't the best offroad vehicle ever built ever!

The GSX was available at the same time as the gs, I saw them race at the castrol 6 hour races for 3 years in a row :thefinger: the riots were fucking awesome to watch

Anyway I reckon you have the gs and GSX mixed up.

Plus everybody knows that a lj20 is the best offroad car ever made. Lj50 is for softies.

I'm surprised Jackson hasn't nicked your fairings. :P I reckon a lot of people wont see your indicators with them in the tail light that. Could be dangerous. :?

My housemate is set on getting a GS500, they seem to be a pretty good jack of all trades bike and they're dirt cheap. 8)

Edit: Nice first bike Wilso, its better for it than mine!

The GS500s are a good solid unit for a learner, especially for someone as dainty as you Josh.

That tail light is incredibly illegal though - and the lack of seperate indicators will get you a lot of attention, especially if you frequent the Old Pac, Putty etc riding spots. Get some small LED units with stamped lenses and you'll be fine.

Thanks sideways, armature and dark horse.

Yeah I knew about the lights not being separated enough. Everything I did was reversible so won't be a big deal if I get pulled over. And yeah, it's a pretty cool bike to ride. It cost me $19 to get to work and back for the month :D
