I'm wondering has anyone cut up a Sierra to make a camper trailer but keeping it light as possible The mind wanders

Heaps of people have, but there are heavy.
Keep looking in this trailers and camping area, Zukenutter's trailer started like that and there's a few examples in the trailer mega merge thread.

Well I found all these awesome ideas and couldn't help myself it's amazing what you can do with a oxy and a 9" grinder Anyhow all cut up, chassis made front panel made axel done ready for paintjob il put pics up soon as I work out how to do it

The main issue with them, apart from the weight, is that the wheels tend to be too far back for a well balanced trailer, unless its quite short.

It doesn't feel too bad lifting from the drawbar feels like a reasonable balance. trying to keep light as possible Pretty happy with progress what do you think would be an ideal trailer weight for behind a sierra(g16b)??

Pretty sure maximum allowable is 450 kg for a Sierra , thats trailer and whats in it.

Put it on the scales at work it came in at 232kg but that doesn't include tent Which I still have to get

I used rear section and spliced a-frame into chassis which then meets spring hanger Sealed up inside and underneath and put bodywork into hi-fill today looks the part now I'll put photos up soon as I can(work out how)

Yeah I probably couldve gone that way and put a rtt on it but wanted something different and looks the part

Well I managed to get the tub into hi-fill all I need to do know is make the frame for the lid and work Out mounting the struts and all the other annoying bits

Progress has slowed up a bit broke my wrist working on hubs don't ask how all I know is it hurt! Epoxyed inside and underneath Waiting on new tail lights and hope to register next week

I'm looking at using a roof top tent on a 6x4 trailer, light and very easy to set up, and just have a basic water tank/pump set up, nice and easy

I was going to do the same I had a 7x4 then I thought I'd do it different and love the way it's coming together Work has slowed since breaking my wrist but getting frame mounted for lid on wknd and il get photos up as soon as I can having trouble putting em up

Finally got some work done frame for lid n struts done,jerry can holders and Esky frame and jockey wheel slowly getting there
